San Agustin
Church is one of four churches
in the Philippines that was asked UNESCO as
a world heritage in1993. 3
other churches are San Agustin Church (Paoay
Church) in Ilocos
Norte, Santa Maria
Church in Ilocos
Sur, and Sto
Thomas de Villaneuva
in Iloilo.
Although in the category of world heritage by the UNESCO, the San Agustin Church apparently does not fall into the category of Minor Basilica by the Vatican as that carried the Manila Cathedral, Basilica Del Santo NiƱo Menore in Cebu, and 10 other churches in the Philippines. Minor Basilica itself is a title given to churches around the world that only 'lose prestige' by 4 major basilica in Vatican City, including St. Peter.
